The Manuka plant has traditionally been used as a tea, in beer and to smoke and flavour foods with. As a tea, Manuka has a unique earthy and grassy flavour and aroma, with slight astringency. This is a tea that is best brewed for 2 or 3 minutes at most to avoid the astringency. Manuka makes a great replacement for black or green tea and contain no caffeine. Add a little fresh mint or a slice of fresh lemon to freshen your tea.
